Participants - Who's Planning on Going?

If you think you might be able to make it, put your name on the list with any relevant notes. (i.e. possibly bringing friends, etc. Hashtag: #COTweetup

@pwcarey says: It's looking like the weekend of 8/7 has the most votes (although I just scrolled down and saw 9/4 is pretty happenin' too).  There's no reason we can't have two tweetups for those that can't make it that weekendespecially since 8/7 and 9/4 only have one repeat customer.  Any objection to getting the 8/7 weekend crew going as airfare will start going up soon?

  • @climbingguy123
  • @adventuregrrl and @kakistocrat - depends on flight prices, and which weekend works for everyone!
  • @BlueSkEyes207
  • @joshuamontague - My graduate comprehensive exams are probably going to be around the beginning/middle of August. But, I hope to at least catch up with folks a little, regardless of the dates!
  • @pwcarey - If I go, I'm roadtripping it from the Puget Sound
  • @theGearcaster
  • @tiffanymroyal - depends on flight $$ (which look good now) but it'd be probably late July or early Sept.
  • @eleddy - same as @tiffanymroyal. the later the better for me
  • @rockgrrl - transportation $ may be an issue, also if there isn't any camping, lodging $
  • @craglizard
  • @davidLutzy - Will probably merge work with a Tweetup ...
  • @theclimbergirl - transportation $ is an issue as is weekend scheduling for me... if there's a carload from Puget Sound, that would help ease the transportation $ issue.  I'm booked almost all of the weekends listed until later in Sept, but I'll keep an eye in case an event shifts / changes / gets cancelled / etc!
  • @jennfields and @ten1seven will probably be climbing somewhere in CO on one of these weekends, anyway. :)
  • @mtsquirrel maybe, coming from Seattle
  • @campthesummit
  • @kg super interested + have some SWA vouchers to use :)  or interested in rideshare with WA/Seattle peeps or if people are going straight from OR summer market.
  • @tmarkiewicz - local, so most weekends work
  •

Dates

The dates represented are the Saturday of each given weekend. I'm assuming we'll make a long weekend of the trip with whoever can go, so keep that in mind. If a particular weekend works for you, put your name next to that date and update the tally. If a date doesn't work for you, leave it blank.

Transportation/Carpooling

Where we can see how to get who where in the most efficient/convenient way. Post if you're willing to carpool & from where, or if you find any great plane ticket deals, etc...

Vehicle Count

Add your name and how many vehicles you will have, also note if you can carpool

  • @adventuregrrl - we'd be flying in and can rent a car, but would prefer to carpool
  • @BlueSkEyes207 Will have a rental car (Thank you NASA!)
  • @joshuamontague: I've got a car! (4 seats)
  • @pwcarey: I hope to roadtrip from Seattle. Can pick up people in Portland, Idaho, SLC and the like. Suburban with 7 spare seats and plenty of room. I plan on stopping by American Fork, Utah on the way  down as a midway point.
  • @theGearcaster I will be road tripping from the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake to Boulder in the Mini Cooper!
  • @tiffanymroyal - will be flying in/driving but could carpool too, if I time it right with the East Coasters ... :)
  • @craglizard: i have an extra vehicle, in case it's needed.
  • @jennfields & @ten1seven should have some room in our standard-issue Boulder Suby
  • @dubid0: road trippin' from SoCal in a Honda Fit. Should have room for 1 or 2 more, depending on gear.
  • @campthesummit Flying from the east coast, also could carpool if other people from the east are going out - renting a car

Campsite Info

@joshuamontague: I haven't done extensive homework on this yet, but I do know there is an astounding lack of local camping. Not sure what my living situation will be @ the time, but any exposed horizontal surface I've got is fair game!

@craglizard: i have space in my house in longmont (15 minutes north of boulder) and an extra vehicle.

@jennfields & @ten1seven have a lovely futon in Longmont.

Park Entrance Fee Options: @jennfields & @ten1seven have a RMNP pass & Eldo pass

Routes

If you've got any must-do routes or problems, here's where you record that!

@adventuregrrl I'd love to try Boulder Canyon, hard bouldering sounds good to me!

@joshuamontague: There's so much climbing! Instead of single routes, here are some links to local areas....

@craglizard: also, estes park.

@BlueSkEyes207: Here are some things I have in mind... anyone else?

  • High Wire Crag

[HWC has a handful of easy sport routes, but it's the busiest crag in CCC, imo. If you're going during the middle of a weekday, you'll probably be fine. Otherwise, I'd highly suggest a different crag. Some good options with wide-ranging (inc. easy) stuff: DoghouseCanal Zone (really fun, imo) -@joshuamontague ]

[The approaches in the Flatirons are beautiful and long, usually to very sparse climbing areas.  Be sure to abide by the closures that occur during summer months (raptor and bat nesting). -@joshuamontague
 ]

Boulder:

Golden:

[You can support our awesome local gear stores (Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, Bent Gate in Golden) if you buy all these guides out here.  I also have one each of the BoCan, CO Bouldering, and CCC guides to lend]

Gear

Just put your name and what you're bringing (i.e. ropes, crashpads, racks, etc.)

  • adventuregrrl - I have a crash pad I can bring if we need it, a rope, and a handful of draws
  • @BlueSkEyes207 - Rope and sport rack
  • @joshuamontague: rope, QDs, crashpad [ x2 of each if I convince Sarah to join :) ]
  • @pwcarey: Rope, static rope, meager random rack, cameras, chocolate
  • @theGearcaster I am a total gumby in terms of rock climbing so don't have much beyond personal gear. Sorry!
  • @eleddy rope + sport rack
  • @craglizard: rope, crash pad, sport rack, trad rack, sunscreen :)
  • @jennfields & @ten1seven rope, draws, rack. Will let you know if we suck it up & buy a crash pad.
  • @campthesummit rope, trad rack, sport rack
  • @tmarkiewicz - everything
  • @cfoservices If I can come, I can bring full trad rack and finagle a decent sport rack + 60 m rope.

Climbing is Dangerous

Climbing is inherently dangerous and the risk of death or serious injury can never be completely eliminated. It is up to each individual to make his or her own choices regarding acceptable risk. Tweetups are collaborative efforts with no individual organizers, and each participant only assumes liability for their own well being, just as you assume liability for yours! Cheers!

The End

No really, this is the end.
